Predicting risk of long-term unemployment

Câmara Municipal de Cascais (CM-Cascais) is the municipal government of Cascais. It is one of most livable and touristic cities in Portugal, and is home to over 200,000 residents. The municipality is increasingly using data to inform decisions.

This project aims to support CM-Cascais in understanding patterns of unemployment in the municipality and to develop a system to identify individuals spanning the largest skills gap from the current job market. The system will also recommend the best types of intervention to bridge skills gaps and increase people’s likelihoods gaining employment.

Data provided by project partners include characteristics of job seekers and interactions with the Institute of Employment and Vocational Training – Instituto do Emprego e Formação Profissional.
